Havah... I really wonder what the Brasilian guy says at the beginning of "Silence", could you translate it into English...
What i understood of it, it's something more or less like this:
"Be aware of the rules of 3.
What you give will come back at you.
This lesson you must learn.
You only get what you deserve."
You made me try to understand it, literarly. I think it speaks about the rule of 3, from the witches, that says that you'll get 3 times of what you give. Moreover, the resemblance between "rule of 3" and the name of the album should not be coincidence...
One more obscure detail, i guess!
PS.: This album is f*cking awesome indeed!... Still exploring... and i'm not sure if i'll stop anytime... |

The translation above is perfect! The original in Portuguese is:
"Esteja alerta para as regras dos três
O que você dá, retornará para você
Essa lição, você tem que aprender
Você só ganha o que você merece"
First negative review I've seen. Doesn't seems like he gets it tho. A few valid points, but overall, I think he hasn't listened hard enough yet...and he cannot spell for shit.

What a moron, seriously.
I loved Deep Water, it gives the listener time to surface momentarily by providing a break to a different sound (although beth's voice still gives it a dark, eerie undertone), before Machine Gun leaps back into the beautifully disturbing atmosphere.
And that guy should get a fucking clue about production, it makes the album unique, human, and gives it character, rather then sounding like the over processed, mechanical, compressed to the wall shit sound that currently floods the music market today (hopefully the final album mix doesn't ruin this honest authenticity).
But what can you expect from a review who can't even take a clear picture of himself, or is it one of those "i'm trying to be artistic" motifs?
Ah, he has no patience for human frailty? Fuck him. _________________ Losing myself between the sound... |

Very cool about the rule of 3 thing, thanks for the translation. Don't know if it actually is relevant thematically to the album, but it sounds fuckin cool, doesn't it? _________________ I got a fever |

The rule of 3 thing is awesome! I'm an artist and use the 'rule' all the time in my work. The 'rule of thirds' plays an important role in art as it serves as guide to balance a piece. For example, the cover has the P3 icon slightly off center to the right. That is an example of The rule of thirds. Plus, if you look carefully, youll notice that the P3 icon is divided into 3 parts, top, middle and bottom.
The rule of thirds has been used for thousands of years starting with the Greeks. It is also know as the 'divine proportion' or 'golden rectangle/spiral". It also occurs naturally in nature as well. The original Bible even used the 'Divine proportion' to determine the margins of the pages rumor has it. Google it, its pretty trippy stuff.
As it pertains to the music, I can hear alot of triplet drum beats, alot of 3 note guitar riffs, there is some 3/4 timing in there as well. I bet others will find even more interesting things that apply to 'Third'. Very clever of them to subtly tie the album together this way. |

- - - the american guy who wrote the aforementioned review alleges he's a college-level english instructor *penn state U. i think?* and also a musician. having read his review, i suspect that he's not only dishonest, but also hearing impaired and that he has a difficult time focusing on even the most simple tasks. his english really is awful, (and i'm not talking typos) and for him, a musician and [P] fan of at least the first 2 albums, not to grasp the linear cohesiveness of the new album, ~yikes~!
but let's cut him a little slack- while his education and profession may be suspect, he may actually be learning disabled; i mean, c'mon, who doesn't "get" third? especially amongst fans? |

It's refreshing to see that originality still exists.
The ”Third” is new, different and beautiful. Love it.
Already 2 favs: Threads and Small. A, and Silence. And We Carry On and...fuck that. The whole album is my fav.
[P], thank u for...music. |

Yeah I read this before too. That guy wanted Dummy 2.
It really doesn't matter if he doesn't like it though, you and I both do, so
we are happy and he is not. |
